Hamdouk Informed on Implementation of Revitalized Peace Agreement in South Sudan

The Prime Minister and chairman of the current session of IGAD, Dr. Abdalla Hamdouk, received Monday in his office the special envoy of IGAD for implementation of the revitalized peace agreement in the Republic of South Sudan, ambassador Ismail Wais.

In a press statement, Wais said that the Republic of South Sudan celebrated in last February the first anniversary of the formation of the transitional national unity government in accordance with the revitalized peace agreement, stressing that the implementation of the peace agreement in South Sudan is progressing well.

He said that the meeting dealt with a number of tasks and issues that are to be accomplished in the pre-transitional period, represented in dissolution of the Legislative Assembly, formation the new Transitional Legislative Assembly and completing the graduation and deployment of the joint forces in the Republic of South Sudan.

Ambassador Ismail Wais said that the Republic of South Sudan will celebrate in next July the 10th anniversary of the Republic’s birth as independent state, "hoping that this celebration to take place when all the tasks of the pre-transitional period have been implemented.
