Sudan and Egypt affirmed the strengthening of the strategic and historical relations between them, besides their keenness to coordinate the positions, viewpoints and the joint interests based on the deeply-rooted relations linking the two countries.
A joint press statement issued, Friday, on the occasion of the visit of Prime Minister, Dr. Abdalla Hamdouk pointed out that the expected visit in the context of the continuous consultation and the mutual visits between the two sides, the last of which was the important visit made by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to his second country, Sudan at the beginning of this week,
The statement underlined that President was keen to receive the Sudanese Prime Minister at the beginning of his visit to Egypt, a meeting during which President El-Sisi emphasized the depth of strategic relations and ties. the brotherhood between the two brotherly countries and the peoples of the Nile Valley, which represent the constant and firm approach of Egypt, which does not hesitate to provide all support to Sudan in light of the transitional period it is going through and which needs all the support of the brothers to promote its stability, development and democratic transformation
“The Prime Ministers of Sudan and Egypt held a closed-door session during which they discussed the major issues of common interest before they chaired the delegations of their countries in a comprehensive official bilateral talks that covered the framework and the cooperation proposals between the two countries in the coming period” the statement indicated.
The statement said the ministers of the two sides held bilateral meetings to review the detailed programs and proposals for strengthening cooperation between the concerned ministries in Sudan and Egypt.
The statement said the Prime Ministries of the two countries, via the bilateral talks, confirmed their commitment to boost the bilateral cooperation in different fields, specially, concerning the Egyptian experiment in economic reform and training of the Sudanese cadres, as well as, the implementation of the Electricity Networking Project, railways, air, sea and road transport.
“The development of cooperation in investment, health, climate change, agriculture, education, animal wealth, food security, the reactivation of the Joint Sudanese-Egyptian Ministerial Committee and the joint Trade Committee, were also, reviewed, the statement added.
Concerning the File of the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, the statement affirmed that the Sudanese-Egyptian viewpoints were identical over the importance of the file based on the necessity for reaching binding and legal agreement on filling and operation of the Ethiopian Dam to realize the interest of the three countries.
They also called on Ethiopia to show goodwill and engage in an effective negotiation process to reach this agreement
“Sudan and Egypt have welcomed the leadership of the Democratic Republic of Congo to the negotiations and Egypt expressed support to Sudan proposal on the development of the negotiation mechanism of the AU sponsored negotiations via establishment of International Quad Committee led by the Democratic Republic of Congo, the current AU chairman of the and includes the UN, EU and the US as mediators” it indicated
