The Prime Minister met Dr. Abdalla Hamdouk, Monday received the UN Under-Secretary-General for Field Support Atul Kare, in the presence of the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Khalid Omar Yousif.
The UN Under-Secretary-General for Field Support explained to the Prime Minister that Sudan role has changed from receiving security missions to become a participant in expected UN missions for keeping security in various countries.
The meeting also discussed the steps related to the exit of the UNAMID mission and the receiving of the the UN Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS).
The Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations for Field Support explained that Sudan government has received from the UNAMID mission five sites in Darfur states until today, stressing that all the sites that the mission evacuated will be for the benefit of the local communities provided that they shall be for civilian purposes.
It is worth noting that the mandate of UNAMID mission in the country under Chapter Seven of the United Nations Charter has ended in the country on December 31, 2020, and it is scheduled that the UNAMID mission will complete its exit from Sudan on June 30, 2021, and it is replaced by the UN Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS which was established in accordance with Security Council Resolution (2425) under Chapter Six of the United Nations Charter.
