The Economic Development Sector chaired by the Minister of Agriculture, Professor Abdullah Sulaiman Abdullah, reviewed on Tuesday, 7 August 2018, a report on the textile and fabric industry in Sudan. The report pointed to the future vision of textile and fabric industry and its role in the economy of the country and remove all obstacles to promote this filed and encourage investment in it and take all the necessary policies, legislation, motivation and protection.
The sector recommended expanding of cotton cultivation in the irrigated and rainwater sectors, providing financing for production inputs, rehabilitating textile and fabric factories as well as ensuring that the production chain is compatible with textile industry to achieve self-sufficiency and meet the needs of the export. and encourage investment this area.
The sector also recommended benefiting from alternative energies, especially solar, in the operation of factories to reduce cost and interest in technical training and rehabilitation of national cadres in the textile industry field.
The Sector also approved the bilateral cooperation agreement in the field of trade between the Government of the Republic of Sudan and the Government of the State of Palestine, as well as the memorandum of understanding for bilateral cooperation in the field of international cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Sudan and the Government of the State of Palestin
