The First Vice-President of the Republic, Prime Minister,first let,Gen Bakri Hassan Saleh , on Thursday, 21 June 2018, signed the signing ceremony of the framework agreement for the financing of the Suki sugar project between the Ministry of Industry and the Saudi Bin Sammar Company in the presence of the ministers of the economic sector, Companies.


In a press statement following the signing ceremony, Minister of Industry Dr.Mosri Karama said that the total cost of the project amounts to 464 million dollars for the production of 200 thousand tons of sugar and 36 megawatts of electricity, enough for the project and supplying the national grid, indicating that the project represents a real addition to projects. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ben Samar, Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Mas'ad Saud bin Samar, stressed the keenness of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to strengthen relations of cooperation with Sudan for the most part in the field of investment. He expressed his pleasure to sign this agreement, explaining that the project will have a positive return and will enter the production department in the near future.

In a press conference held today at the Council of Ministers following the signing ceremony, the Minister of Industry, The Minister of Agriculture expressed his country's keenness to open up and receive national and foreign investments. He also announced the signing of an agreement for the shareholders of the project during the next two weeks to be followed in the implementation steps, pointing out that farmers are partners in the production process, indicating that his ministry has developed an ambitious plan aimed at improving production and productivity.

For his part, Governor of Sennar state d. Abdul-Karim Moussa said that the project provides 4500 jobs and will make an economic transition to the state and the Sudan in general, as well as its role in serving the community in the context of social responsibility.
