Economic Sector's Technical Committee Recommends Adoption of Building Code for Persons with Disabilities

The Technical Committee of the economic development sector has approved in its meeting  Monday, 11 December 2017, at the General Secretariat of the Cabinet which is  Chaired  by Ms.Muna Sayed Ismail ,Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning the building code for persons with disabilities
The said code  was presented by the Under-secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Physical  development.
The undersecretary has outlined  that this code is set up to accommodate the requirements of the segments of persons with disabilities in  their  surrounding environment like buildings  and facilities to enable them  perform an effective role in the community
The said code comprised  special measurements that must be heeded when  designing the buildings , highlighting  the efforts made by the Ministry of Environment to include  this code in the construction criteria at the center and the states.
The Committee recommended that the institutions of the state to  adopt  this code and disseminate its culture as it is perquisite for the movement of the disabled.
