Hamdok Thanks EU for its Continued Support to the Country’s Democratic Transition
Prime Minister Dr Abdalla Hamdok has expressed appreciation to the European Union for its continunied support to transitional, civilian and democratic track in Sudan .
This came when the Prime Minister met on Thursday the EU Ambassador to Sudan, Robert van Den Dool. The Prime Minister presented a briefing on currents steps made to implement the framework agreement which include release of the political detainees, protection of the peaceful demonstrations and review decisions be made since October 25.
The meeting also discussed the process of consultation over the "political declaration" mentioned in the framework agreement, on which consensus would be established between the various active forces of Sudanese society, and according to these consensuses, the Constitutional Document would be amended and the next technocratic government will be formed
The meeting reviewed implementation of the agreement signed between the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC)and the Prime Minister, as well as the framework of European economic and political support for the government, where Van den Dool affirmed the support and commitment of the European Union towards the process of democratic transformation in Sudan.
The European Union ambassador affirmed Europe's readiness to provide support by focusing on the government's four priorities of peace, economy, security and issues of democratic transition, in addition to support in other areas, specifically in relation to the Coronavirus pandemic.
