National campaign on markets control launched

 Minister of Cabinet Affairs Khalid Omer Yusuf has affirmed importance of cooperation of the commercial system in a way that ensures monitoring and control of prices at the markets and curbing unjustified increases and determining their causes.

This came when he participated today in the launching of the national campaign to monitor and control markets at Omdurman major markets for consumer goods, accompanied by the Ministers of Interior and Trade and Supply, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Trade and representatives of the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization and a number of relevant authorities.

The delegation listened to a number of traders, who explained causes of high prices at the markets, calling on various transitional government agencies to hold intermediaries accountable and to oblige companies and factories to reasonable prices of their products to contribute to stability of prices.

For its part, the delegation provided the shop owners with a detailed explanation of the objectives of the campaign and the most important procedures and processes that the transitional government would undertake to control prices at the markets, foremost of which is putting price tags on commodities.

They also stressed the need for cooperation of all relevant institutions for the success of the campaign in all states of Sudan.
