Cabinet Affairs Minister Engineer Khalid Omer Yusuf has said the start of peace talks between delegations of the Sudanese Government and SPLM-N in Juba today represents a turning point in the history of the Sudan, especially after the glorious December Revolution.
Addressing the opening session of the peace talks at Crown Hotel in Juba today, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the spokesman of the government delegation said that the transitional government has proved that it has the will to write new history and future for the Sudan, indicating that the two parties have real will to realize peace in the country.
Head of South Sudanese mediation team Presidential Adviser Tut Galwak, on his part, voiced his happiness over return to the dialogue between the Transitional Government of the Sudan and Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North, commending the two parties to the peace talks.
He pointed out that the mediation team is keen on the success of the current session of the dialogue for realization of peace between the two parties.
Galwak went on to say that South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit had urged the two parties to reach peace soonest.
SPLM-N Secretary General Ammar Amon, on his part, pointed out that the step followed the signing of the declaration of principles between the two parties in last March for realization of peace in the Sudan.
