Hamdouk Affirms Importance of Legislative Assembly to be Composed of Revolutionary Forces
The Prime Minister, Dr. Abdalla Hamdouk, has stressed the importance of formation of the Transitional Legislative Assembly as one of the constitutional requirements of the transitional period, provided that the council is to bra composed of all the revolutionary forces of political and social components.
During his meeting Monday with a delegation of the initiative for establishing the Legislative Assembly, he indicated that the Transitional Council of Partners will not be a substitute for a real legislative assembly that undertakes the tasks of legislation, monitoring government performance and consolidating democratic values.
The delegation has provided the Prime Minister with a full explanation of the initiative and its objectives, as the initiative stems from the need for a transitional legislative assembly to absorb all the revolutionary forces and formations in the capital and the states, including resistance committees and various social components.
The Prime Minister expressed his support to the initiative to form the legislative assembly, especially that the climate that the discussions and deliberations will create in the Parliament are considered democratic exercises that are important for the people to observe and will greatly contribute to strengthening the culture of democracy and peaceful constructive dialogue, and will also help in monitoring and improving the executive performance and enhancing the political discourse in the country In order to make the necessary consensuses for accomplishing the various tasks of the transitional period.
