Cabinet approves general budget

The Council of Ministers approved in its sitting today, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Abdalla Hamdok, the general budget for fiscal 2021 prior to its final endorsement by a joint meeting of the Sovereignty Council and the Council of Ministers.

Acting Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Dr. Hiba Mohamed Ali said in a press statement that the general budget has been based on basic terms of reference that included the general framework of the program of the transitional government, the requirements of the matrix of Juba peace agreement, recommendations of the first economic conference, the economic program of the Forces of Freedom and Change and the reports of committees on revenues, public spending and policies.

The minister said the budget underwent wide consultations by a higher committee in which all institutions of the state participated, including the central council of the Forces of Freedom and Change, the Economic Committee, the peace partners, resistance committees and economic experts.

Dr. Hiba said that the budget of fiscal 2021 is considered as the first budget that is prepared after realization of peace in Sudan and removal of name of Sudan from the list of states sponsoring terrorism.
