Prime Minister Meets US Secretary of Treasury
Prime Minister, Dr Abdulla Hamdouk, met in his office ,Wednesday the US Secretary of Treasury, Steven Terner Mnuchin, who arrived in the country on a one-day visit as part of a tour which will also take him to a number of countries in the Middle East.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Cabinet, Omar Manis, Minister of finance and Economic Planning, Dr Hiba Mohamed Ali, Minister of Irrigation and Natural Resources, Professor Yasser Abbas, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Omar Gamar-Eddin and Minster of Justice, Nasr-Eddin Abdul Al Bari as from the American side, the meeting was attended by the National Security Adviser, Director of the Gulf and North Africa administration.
The visit was the first of its kind by an American Secretary of Treasury to Sudan, adding that it has discussed relations between the two countries.
The Prime Minister, hailed the efforts of the American administration that led to the removal of Sudan from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, restoring Sudan's sovereign immunity, supporting the democratic transition process and creating economic stability in Sudan.
He indicated that the meeting addressed the dynamic bilateral relations files in various fields of economy, trade and investment, and that the visit represents a strong signal that the two countries will embark on developing relations in the near future.
