Sudan takes a number of Arrangements to Curb the COVID-19 Second Wave

Sudan, on Saturday affirmed that it took package of health, societal and awareness arrangements to face the COVID-19 Second Wave, despite the current challenges facing the Sudanese State. Statement  issued by the Acting Minister of Health, Dr .Osama Ahmed before the UN 13th General Assembly Emergency Session has pointed out that despite, the difficult circumstances, Sudan Government managed to realize  peace in Oct.3, to fulfill the first requirement of the Transitional Period , adding that efforts are still underway to reform the critical economic difficulties. The statement expressed hope that the UN, Sudan and the Transitional Government will contribute  to revocation of  Sudan’s name from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism which imposed on the country in 2005, connected to Darfur Crisis which the reasons behind it  were removed. The statement called for strengthening cooperation and the mechanism of collective work and establishment of partnerships for the reconstruction of what was destroyed  by the pandemic, expressing support to the UN and its organizations  for the great role it played during the outbreak of the COVID-19. “The floods and rains that struck Sudan during this year have doubled the size of the damage caused by the Corona pandemic in addition to the related epidemic diseases over the last three years, which increased the challenges facing our country, as the Nile flood caused great losses of lives and property, so Sudan thanks all the friends and brothers who rushed to provide support and assistance” the statement added. The statement affirmed that Sudan will work with all the local and international partners  to strengthen the national response efforts  for the pandemic. IF/IF
