Dr. Hamdouk meets the President of the International Committee for the Protection of Antiquities

The Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Hamdouk met today in his office in the Council of Ministers, the President of the International Committee for the Protection of Antiquities, Sudan official at the UNESCO Regional Office, Mr. George Abongo, who explained in a press statement that he provided an enlightenment to the Prime Minister during the meeting about the results of his visit to Sudan during the past two weeks and his stance on a number of tourist attractions that were affected by the torrents and floods

The head of the International Committee for the Protection of Antiquities and the Sudanese official told the UNESCO regional office that the visit of the UNESCO delegation to tourist attractions in Sudan included the city of Omdurman, the regions of Meroe, Jebel Barkal, and Al-Kurru in the northern state. Abongo expressed his happiness at visiting these tourist attractions, noting that Sudan is a country rich in natural and cultural heritage, stressing UNESCO is keen to work closely with the Government of Sudan through short and long-term activities and programs to develop tourist attractions by rehabilitate some areas to become international reserves in Sudan, and to overcome obstacles and challenges facing their development
