The Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Ambassador Omar Bashir Manis, praised the role played by the State of South Sudan in achieving the comprehensive peace process in the country, stressing the depth of the strategic relations between Sudan and the State of South Sudan in all fields, indicating the importance of developing them, especially in the field of raising economic cooperation between the two countries, which represents the starting point Pivotal towards common interests during the transitional period

This came during he headed a meeting today, in the Council of Ministers, the special preparatory meeting for the bilateral talks between Sudan and the State of South Sudan, to be held in Juba.

The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Eng. Hashem Abauf, said in a press statement that the meeting discussed how to activate river transport between the two countries through Kosti port, which would contribute to opening crossings, controlling, legalizing and facilitating the movement of citizens and commercial goods and filling security gaps.

For his part, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Mr. Mohamed Ali Abdullah, said that the relations in the field of trade between Sudan and the State of South Sudan are relations that have a tangible impact in the field of economic cooperation between the two countries, adding that the meeting discussed how to activate and revitalize the commercial framework agreement and also explained that the meeting was based on the importance of an agreement Transit to connect the State of South Sudan with northern Africa and across the Red Sea with the Gulf countries, beside the necessity for a free zone in Port Sudan for the state of southern Sudan, pointing out that the volume of trade between Sudan and the state of southern Sudan does not exceed $ 2 million, noting that the signing of trade agreements with the state of South Sudan will contribute to an increase in the volume of commercial work for the benefit of the peoples of both countries

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade expressed his ministry's readiness to transfer experiences and expertise in the field of industrial and commercial work at the level of institutional and human training to the brothers in the State of South Sudan, explaining that there are memoranda of understanding that will be signed to establish a council of joint business owners between the two countries as well as activating memoranda of understanding in the banking field to facilitate operations . as well as in the field of specifications and standards, noting that these agreements would contribute to the development and strengthening of relations between the peoples of the two brotherly countries
