Art therapy program forum recommends the Inclusion of the plastic art therapy program in the general education curriculum
The specialized forum for the art therapy program was held today, at the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, under the supervision of the National Council for the Care of Culture and Arts headed by the Secretary General of the Council Professor / Alam Abbas and the Bastawi Baghdadi Foundation for Culture and Arts, in partnership with UNESCO, the National Committee for UNESCO, Ahfad University and the College of Arts, at Sudan University of Science and Technology, with the participation of the two ministries of health and Education, the UNESCO Chair for School Health and the National Council for Child Welfare, and the presence of a number of specialists
This forum is considered one of the outputs of the International Conference on Art Therapy, which was held in December 2019 at the Ministry of Higher Education in academic partnership with eight universities and experts from inside and outside Sudan.
This forum comes within the framework of the preparation for the second session of the International Conference on Art Therapy, to be held in December 2020
The forum insisted on the necessity to include the art therapy curriculum in the educational curricula and to qualify teachers to participate in the implementation of the program for children in the primary and secondary stages of public education. It also insisted on the importance of the participation of health sector workers, especially those working in the field of mental health, in developing the means of implementing the program. The forum stressed the need to involve the media in raising awareness and understanding the importance of applying the art therapy program
