The Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Hamdouk, has attended today, at the Council of Ministers, the  signing ceremony of an agreement between the European Union and the world Bank to support Sudanese families and ease the severity of the economic reforms thereon, in the presence of the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Ambassador Omar Bashir Manis, the Minister of Culture and Information, Mr. Faisal Mohamed Saleh, the Minister of Labor and Social Development, Ms. Lina Al-Sheikh, and the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning in charge, Dr. Heba Mohammed Ali, European ambassadors, United Nations officials, governments of other countries, and a number of officials.

Whereas, the European Union and the World Bank signed an agreement to work in partnership for a program to support families affected by economic reforms in Sudan, at a value of 92.9 million euros, equivalent to 110 million US dollars.

The signed agreement allocates a lump sum to the Multi-Donor Trust Fund for Transition and Recovery in Sudan (STARS) administered by the World Bank. The Trust Fund is the primary financing mechanism for the Sudan Family Support Program (SFSP) led and implemented by the Sudanese government

While the ambassadors of France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden announced, during the signing ceremony, their support amounting to 67 million euros (78.2 million US dollars), bringing the total contribution of the European team to the family support program to 160 million euros, or 186.6 million US dollars
