Recommendation for approval of Convention against Torture

The Sector for Governance and Administration held a meeting today in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers headed by Lieutenant General Tarifi Idris, the Interior Minister.

The meeting has discussed the Convention against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment of 1984 in which the agreement dealt with a number of provisions stipulating the recognition of equal rights for all.

The sector has also discussed the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, which means arrest, detention, or any form of deprivation of liberty, that deprives the protection of the law.

The meeting has underlined the importance of these agreements for the principles it provides for freedom, justice and peace, recommending the Sudan joining it, taking into account the rights mentioned in the criminal law.
