The Council of Ministers Thursday held an exceptional meeting for the year 2020 which was devoted entirely to the Ministry of Health's strategy to fight the coronavirus epidemic.
In a press statement, the Minister of Culture and Information and government spokesman, Faisal Mohamed Salih, said that the meeting has discussed a lengthy review on the strategy of the Ministry of Health for dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, indicating that the presentation dealt with the country's demographic and health situation and its fragility that does not bear the stage of the epidemic increase.
Faisal explained that the basic approach of the strategy of the Ministry of Health is established on prevention and preventive steps to avoid the disease spreading.
He said that the meeting discussed the situation of states and the steps that can be taken to prevent the transmission of disease from the capital to the states, besides the funding problems, the lack of medicines, the importance of strengthening the monitoring and follow-up mechanisms, the challenges facing the implementation and management of the strategy, the problem of providing information, reconsidering the health systems to be able to carry out their role in the current stage.
He pointed out that the meeting stressed that the strategy shall be comprehensive and permanent, and mobilizing all the health cadres, including doctors and specialists, deputies and nurses, doctors, and even the students of the final class of medical faculties in case of need.
Faisal said that the report has spoken about the need for urgent research in some fields, including the preparation sterilizers, development of experiences and measuring the immunity of the Sudanese person.
He indicated that the Council of Minister has appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Health and the medical cadres and affirmed the importance of involving the community in expanding the awareness, the convey of information and taking more serious measures to ban gatherings.
He referred to measures taken to reprogram the protocols and donations to the Ministry of Health so that the grants and aid provided shall be appropriate to the current conditions, adding that the Cabinet also discussed the precautionary measures that can be taken to combat coronavirus
