Council of Ministries Issues Statement on Al Burhan - Netanyahu meeting

The Council of Ministries has issued statement after prolonged meeting through which it announced its position on the recent meeting in Uganda between the chairman of the Sovereign Council and the Israeli Prime Minister The Council of Ministers stated that they are surprised by that meeting and held urgent meeting on Tuesday, February 4, to discuss repercussions of this meeting, indicating that they met the Forces of Freedom and Change and shared identical views and demanded a joint meeting with the Sovereign Council  The statement explained that, in the joint meeting, the chairman of the Sovereign Council stressed that he made the initiative personally, did not consult any one and he bears its responsibility believing that this step was for the benefit of the Sudanese people According to the statement of the Council of Ministers, the Chairman of the Sovereign Council said that meeting was exploratory, during which he did not make any commitment or promises to normalize or establish diplomatic relations, and that he leaves the issue to the competent authorities to decide The Council of Ministers stressed that the issue of relations with Israel is beyond the powers of the transitional government which have a limited mandate, and that such an issue must be considered by the legislative authority and the constitutional conference
