Council of Ministers holds an extraordinary meeting to discuss the budget

The Council of Ministers held an extraordinary meeting this morning, Sunday, December 22, 2019, headed by Dr. Abdullah Hamdouk, Prime Minister, dedicated to discussing the draft budget for the year 2020 
 
Mr. Faisal Mohamed Salih, Minister of Culture and Information, the official spokesman for the government, said in press statements that this meeting is the second meeting of the Council of Ministers to deliberate on the budget, noting that the dialogue on the budget is still ongoing
Pointing out that the Cabinet has formed a mini-committee to discuss options for the issue of lifting subsidies as the main topic, and he said that the budget proposes to gradually increase support for petrol 
Saleh  explained that this would be offset by doubling the salaries of state workers, as well as direct social cash support to the poor sectors, in addition to increasing spending on education and health to achieve free education and treatment in government hospitals, adding that the Council of Ministers decided to put these issues to a community dialogue with different sectors of the people to listen to opinions on it, more than one alternative will be presented through these dialogues so that citizens see the most acceptable option, indicating that there will be transparency in presenting information and numbers in a clearer way to the masses
 
Mr. Faisal announced that it is expected that the agenda of community dialogues will start from tomorrow in different sectors, explaining that this will be through all media, in addition to direct public meetings to put forward various options and inform citizens about the reality of the economic situation and the ways and options available to deal with it to be partners in treatment and this treatment is not imposed in the Cabinet
