The Ministerial Committee to study the situation of public transport visited on Monday, November 11, 2019 Khartoum State Transport Company and the train project, in fulfillment of the directives of the Prime Minister to find urgent and
radical solutions to the crisis of the state of Khartoum, the committee was accompanied by Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Faisal Mohammed Saleh, the official spokesman of the government, who explained in a press statement that the field visit included Khartoum Transport Company, where he inspecting the various sections and reviewed the problems and obstacles facing the company. He pointed out that the number of the busses owned by the company about seven hundred buses the daily working, between two hundred and fifty and three hundred buses. Indicating that imported buses of the company in previous periods were not in conformity with the specifications, they continue to work for short periods in the absence of engineering committees to inspect the busses before importing, explaining that the files of these buses in front of the general auditor to detect the fraud, in addition, of the efforts to maintain 400 buses continue Mr. Faisal said that the capacity of working buses covers about (10%) of the state's transport traffic, while the remaining private sector covers the rest transport of citizens, pointing out that the committee demanded the need to raise the capacity of the state transportation company to (50%).
Meanwhile, the committee also visited the Khartoum state train project and learned about the obstacles of work and steps to solve it. It held a lengthy meeting with the project management and recommended that work on the northern line of the state should start at most on November 21, in addition to a control room coordinated with the Railways Authority and start work on the southern line of the state within two weeks
