Cabinet reassures of the supplying position of petroleum, flour and medicine
The Council of Ministers , in a meeting which was chaired by the acting Prime Minister and Minister of the Cabinet Affiars, Omer Bashir Manis, Tuesday heard a report presented by the Federal Health Minister about medicines supplies in the country.
the meeting heard a report presented by Minister of Energy and Mining in which he stated that quantities of fuels in depots and refinery are sufficient and there was no shortage in fuel supplies, adding that the problem lies in distribution and transportation.
He referred to existence of fuel products problem of distribution and transportation
the cabinet has taken urgent measures to solve this problem by increasing the daily benzene and gasoline quotas of capital Khartoum and other states of Sudan and putting arrangements with the transport chamber to solve the transport issue the Council of Ministers also gave directive on stopping collection of fees on roads as it impedes fuel tankers and that the council directed the traffic police to overlook the mini traffic mistakes so as to be a reason for hampering trucks.
He said that the country’s reserve of fuel is sufficient for 40 days and there are large quantities are coming to the country through Port Sudan port.
The cabinet heard a report presented by the Federal Health Minister Dr. Akrm Ali Altoum about medicines supplies in the country
the report attributed spread of malaria and some cases of death in North Darfur State to the inappropriate distribution of drugs from the state's stores of medicines to health centers and hospitals and considered it an obvious shortcoming due to the poor provision of services or intended failure for certain reasons.
The Health Minister has referred to the poor performances of the health service departments in the states, demanding more powers for the ministry to enable it to dispatch technical teams to the states to support this departments.
The Council of Ministers directed the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and the Central Bank of Sudan to provide the necessary funds for importing medicines, the Cabinet also gave a directive for facilitating work of national and foreign organizations that are participating in the fighting epidemics.
He unveiled that Minister of Labor and Social Development would issue a decision cancelling permissions previously used in dealing with organizations to be replaced by a notification of the ministry so as to facilitate works of the organization suppurating in health field
The meeting also listened to a report from governor of Khartoum State on the situation of transportation, which showed a shortage in the number of vehicles in operation, where as the estimated number of citizens used transportation was (4) million citizens and the capacity of public vehicles (2.5) million citizens
transportation incapacity was (1.5) million citizens, in addition to increasing the number of buses to work in rush hours
and the use of buses of regular forces and increase the daily quota of fuel to
intensify the work of operating vehicles and give directive to police traffic to facilitate the flow of vehicles operating in passenger transport
In addition to contract to buy (220) bass from the State of Qatar is expected to arrival in early October and (200) bass from Saudi Arabia to join the cars transport fleet of the state's, in addition to the provision of spare parts to maintain the broken buses
