Social and Cultural Development Sector reviews Marrakesh Convention on Publications for the Blind

The Social and Cultural Development Sector at the Council of Ministers chaired by the Minister of Education Msheir  Ahmed Al-Amin Al-Dulab, the Marrakech Convention for the Access to Publications of Blind Persons, Persons with Visual Impairments or Other Print Disabilities.
The agreement comes in line with the latest developments in solving the problems arising from the development in the economic, social, cultural and technological fields to expand the scope of exceptions for the blind, the visually impaired and entities, and allows them to reproduce, publish and distribute literary and artistic works in a convenient manner commensurate with the nature of their disabilities. Access to publications and contribute to the reduction of knowledge poverty and the promotion of social integration and cultural participation.
The Sector recommended that the Convention should be ratified to contribute to the development of the national legal framework for literary and artistic intellectual property and to comply with international legislation and standards.
On the other hand, the sector reviewed the position of implementation of the reform of the state organs and the recommendations of the National Dialogue Conference of the sector ministries for the month of October.
