Cabinet Expresses Sincere Sympathy to Those Affected by Omdurman Fire

The Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Mutaz Mousa has listened in its Tuesday 
December 4 -2018 meeting at the police premises in Buri district to a briefing on the event of Omdurman market fire presented by Dr. Ahmed Bilal Osman the Minister of Interior
 
Bilal elaborated that the event is restricted to burning 262 shops and 50 booths for selling and exhibiting goods noting that 26 fire brigade’s cars arrived at the site of the incident after six minutes of reporting the fire and remained positioned in the site for a period of twelve continual hours
He stressed that had it not been for the intervention of the civil defense forces the would have finished up the whole market
 
The minister of Interior said that he is to receive today the final report from the forensic laboratory on the affaire of the causes of the fire outlining the random electric connections of the shops and the overcrowding and the blocking of outlets inside the market have led to the spread of the fire calling for the need for reconsidering the planning of Omdurman market so that such incidences may not be repeated in the future assuring the preparedness of the civil service forces for dealing with any emergency
 
Meanwhile the Cabinet expressed its sincere sympathy with all those affected by the fire and thanks to President of the Republic for his direction for tackling the issue of the burned banknotes by compensation in conformity with the technical restrictions and procedures
 
The cabinet has also hailed the fortitude of the civil defense forces and their speedy response despite the difficulties they face
