The Cabinet held its meeting on Sunday November 4, 2018 under the chairmanship of Mutaz Mousa, Prime Minister. The comparative advantages of this sector include assimilation of large numbers of manpower and consumption Agricultural inputs are available in the country and it is capable of achieving self-sufficiency, where good infrastructure is available for production and the sector has a local, regional and global market.
The report reviewed a number of recommendations including cotton production, financing of production operations, industry, tax review, solving the energy problem and encouraging the establishment of accessories factories.
The Council listened to a practical report on the potential of Sur Readymade Garments Company, which made a Sudanese-Turkish-Qatari partnership and produces in accordance with the best international specifications of yarns and ready-made textiles.
The Council decided to re-produce the National Spinning and Weaving Strategy and turn it into a matrix that specifies the liabilities, the measures implemented through them and the timetables for implementation within one month from its date. To absorb the leather products in the matrix and to set a specific time program to reach the stage of the issuance, provided that the Council of Ministers receives a quarterly report on the implementation of the strategy.
